These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the legal research platform operated by AequiLex Legal Technology Limited ("we", "us", "our"). By registering or using this service, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these Terms.

1. Service Description

This is a specialized legal research tool focused on Hong Kong judgments. The service searches and intelligently analyzes judgments from Hong Kong courts only. It is provided without any guarantees of correctness or suitability as legal advice. We recommend verifying accuracy before use.

This service does not perform any legal work reserved for solicitors or barristers; it is limited to retrieving judgments and providing intelligent summaries.

Content on this website (including but not limited to medical, legal, and financial information) is for general reference only and does not constitute professional advice or diagnosis. Any reliance on such information is at your own risk.

Content provided is not by practicing solicitors or barristers in Hong Kong. We do not guarantee coverage of all or the latest Hong Kong court judgments.

Please note that this website is not affiliated with or sponsored by any government department, statutory body, the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Bar Association, or any other institution.

2. Subscriptions & Billing

  • Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled. You authorize us to charge your payment method on file.
  • Plan Changes: Upgrades take effect immediately (prorated charge). Downgrades take effect at the start of the next cycle (no refunds).
  • Cancellation: You may cancel anytime via account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current period.
  • No Refunds: All fees are non-refundable, including for unused portions or partial months.
  • Price Changes: We may adjust pricing with 30 days' notice. Changes apply to the next billing cycle.

3. Free Trials

  • Eligibility: Each individual or organization is eligible for a 10-time trial offer upon first registration. Creating multiple accounts to abuse trials is strictly prohibited. We reserve the final right to decide on and change trial offers at any time.
  • Auto-Conversion: Trials automatically convert to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel anytime during the trial to avoid charges.

4. Legal Disclaimers

NO LEGAL ADVICE: Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice and should not be seen as a substitute for professional legal counsel. This service includes experimental technology and uses AI models with non-deterministic outputs. We accept no liability for its outputs and do not expect you to rely on this service without independent legal advice. Legal research results are for reference only; you should consult a qualified solicitor, barrister, or other professional before making any decisions.

This website is intended for use by legal practitioners, researchers, and law students. If you are unsure how to use it, please proceed with caution and seek professional legal advice before acting.

5. Service Availability

We strive to keep the service available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted. Services may be affected by maintenance or third-party provider failures. We are not liable for degraded service if interruptions do not exceed 7 consecutive days or longer, depending on circumstances.

6. Intellectual Property

All case law and judgments accessed via this service remain subject to their original copyright. Our use is for retrieval and research purposes only.

7. Your Content & License

You retain ownership of your queries. By using the service, you grant us a license to process your queries to provide AI responses and improve the service (in anonymized form).

8. AI Usage Guidelines

You may use AI responses for professional research, but you may NOT:

  • Use responses to train competing AI models.
  • Redistribute large volumes of responses commercially.
  • Represent AI outputs as your own original legal analysis without verification.

9. AI Services & Data Processing

This service uses third-party AI providers (such as Google Gemini) to generate responses. Your data will be sent to these providers for processing. By using the service, you consent to this transfer.

For legal professionals: Do not input confidential client information or privileged communications.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY HONG KONG LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS". WE DISCLAIM ALL LIABILITY FOR ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR DECISIONS MADE BASED ON THIS SERVICE, AND DISCLAIM ANY DUTY OF CARE.

Our total liability for any of the following claims shall not exceed the total amount you paid for the service in the 3 months preceding the claim, or HK$500 (whichever is higher). This includes:

  • Claims in tort (including negligence);
  • Breach of service levels;
  • Breach of purpose;
  • Loss caused by reliance on incorrect information;
  • Defamation claims;
  • Trademark, IP, or patent claims;
  • Breach of conditions, warranties, or innominate terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong. However, parties must attempt mediation before commencing legal proceedings.

本服務使用第三方 AI 供應商（如 Google Gemini）生成回覆。您的數據將發送給這些供應商進行處理。使用本服務即表示您同意此傳輸。

10. 責任限制

在香港法律允許的最大範圍內，本服務按「現狀」提供。我們不對內容的準確性、完整性或基於本服務做出的任何決定負責或存在任何盡職義務。

我們對任何下述的索賠的總責任不超過您在索賠前 3 個月內為服務支付的總金額，或港幣 500 元（以較高者為準）。當中包括如下:-

  • 侵權法下(包括但不限於疏忽)的索賠;
  • 違反服務標準水平的索賠;
  • 違反服務目的索賠;
  • 因錯誤依賴本服務的資訊造成損失的索賠;
  • 任何誹謗索賠;
  • 任何商標或智識產權或專利的索賠;
  • 違反條款及細則(Condition)、保證條款(Warranty)及其餘中性條款(innominate term)的索賠。

11. 適用法律

本條款受香港特別行政區法律管轄。任何爭議應提交香港法庭專屬管轄。唯提出訴訟前，雙方必須先進行調解。
